november 4-5

This course is about transmuting your individual way of moving into a cake form. By learning my signature technique of what I call “the torn paper effect”, including torn paper roses and leaves, we’ll work with your individual style of moving and how to transfer it to your hand, as we compose various layers of ruffles and the flowers into a final piece. I believe art should reveal the hand of the artist, and the composition exposes the path of the artist's attitude and style of moving. You'll identify what interests you as you build and layer the elements together, which is insight into your unique artistry.

You'll make many nuanced design decisions in the process of composing a complete piece, while we discuss in a group setting. You'll create a small 3-tier cake that demonstrates your unique design choices and the style of your hand.

And, because I’m motivated to help make this industry sustainable for cake makers, my classes always include a little bit of business content to help along with pricing your work.
